One Week…

It has been one week without mountain dew….yes I slipped a couple of times, its been really hard!  To have something so entrenched into my life as this was, it is not easy making a break from it.  Yet I will overcome this…my husband has been a super supporter of this…but my son however thinks I may be a little on the grumpy side without…teenagers gotta love them.

I have been pretty even this time as far as headache, Wed last week was the worst.  So I think I am over that hurtle.  On to the next, getting rid of all pop from my life, this is going to be so hard to do!  There are so many pops or sodas that I like that don’t have caffeine.  Root-beer, Orange my favorite next to Mountain Dew – Squirt….its a citrus thing.

Thanks so much for the support, I did get notes from several of you…

So now instead of wanting the caffeine I have been filling in with scripture, its not been easy but now what I am establishing I would not change for a moment, yes I will still struggle day to day to have one.  But in the long run it will be worth it!

Here is my scripture focus for today:  Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.  Isaiah 26:4  NLT

I love this verse in a couple of other versions as well

NIV – Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

KJV – Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

ESV – Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.

MSG – Depend on God and keep at it because in the LORD GOD you have a sure thing.

CJB (complete Jewish Bible) – Trust in Adonai forever, because in Yah Adonaiis a Rock of Ages.

GW (GOD’S WORD) Trust in the LORD always, because the LORD, the LORD alone, is an everlasting rock.

I like the versions with the reference to rock instead of strength, because it gives more of a physical image, strength can be measured in so many different ways (mind, body, wit just to name a couple) what is actually being referenced ?  Where when I see a reference to rock  this is what I see in my mind…

It is amazing how strong, powerful, longlasting, an image like this can stay with someone, I saw this as a little girl in 1976 and to this day still blown away!

As for me I will gladly use the firm foundation of the ROCK for my life.
