Friends

Friendship one of the most powerful relationship you may ever encounter.  I don’t take my friendships lightly, they each cover a void in one’s everyday life that we don’t see or sometimes even understand we have.  Friends come in all shapes and ages, some are really cool and aloof and others give you a hug right on the spot.

I read a poem one time years ago that compared friends to flowers that some friends are like orchids

and others like the many blooms of a gladiolus

that with each passing day you get to see another layer of their heart.

Then it compared the RoseIMG_9504

they come in array of colors depending on their mood and are both beautiful

but only one hide thorns like some so called friends talk behind your back.

Then they described the violet (pansy)

hardy in cold and snow, can take it when ignored for a few days without dying,

and best of all they treat you to blooms from early spring to late fall…there when you need them.

So do me a favor the next time you are out with friends,

take a good look around to see the kind of flowers hanging with you,

if there is not at least one violet make sure you find one somewhere!

Because you never know when your bleeding heart will need a friend!

The Bible talks often on restore or rebirth, just like flowers in the springtime are

reborn again to a season of growth.

So too we must work on restoring friends/family that we don’t talk to.  Especially when

jealousy rears its head.  It’s hard to be happy for others when you are going through

something tough.

But Jesus told us the greatest commandment

Matthew 22:34-40

34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Psalm 51:12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation

and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Ask God to restore you, to put flowers along your path for good

and to sprinkle a few violets among the other flowers too.

Blessings
