unlocking your inner genius

So I have been reading books on my wonderful NOOK, and love the ease in reading.  But am I missing something, that the touch and feel of books give your senses?  Do you retain more when reading electronic vs. paper?  What are your thoughts?  I for one am not looking for pro vs con arguments just why do you love one vs the other?  Or should we be seeking a blessing of wisdom?

Wisdom is a great thing just look at how smart King Solomon was…

1 Kings 4:30  Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.

1 Kings 4:29  Solomon’s Wisdom ] God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.

1 Kings 10:23  King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.

But he did not achieve this on his own He sought out God and asked for it.  So for us to have wisdom and I mean true wisdom not just book smart, because some of the most book smart people are short when it comes to common sense and just the same some with a lot of common sense are not very book savvy.  So how do we find that happy medium?  How do we know enough of this subject without knowing way more or less of another?  So how does one know if they are truly wise?  What tools can we measure wisdom by the number of doctorates someone has behind their name, does this make them any smarter than someone like a farmer?  Sure the book smart might be able to give statistics of how to yield a better harvest or what percent of water that each plant needs but a farmer works the soil and can tell when it lacks something, if the plant is brown or yellow = to much or not enough water, if the ear of corn are small or if they are big, farmers used to just use their gut instinct to know when to harvest or not, when to plant or not to plant, they did not have weather on demand, they looked to the sky, they did not have chemicals to aide for all types of bugs to mold to rot, they looked at the plants and did what they could.

So are we becoming too learned to know that we have to pray for guidance or do we just keep going learning more and more of everything in this world.  It was different 25 years ago, we had long distance calling and letters, email was just making an appearance, but in as little as my daughter’s life time we have gone global.  I can chat with friends from all over, Hungary, Africa, Canada, Singapore, Brazil, or even other states in the USA.  It is amazing that I can hold a conversation with someone online and it feels like we are in the same room (in a weird sort of way).  But this is what information can do for us, yet it can be a bad thing as we have become so dependent on computers we have forgotten how to do simple things for ourselves like communicate.  Like a younger friend of mine that said she would text me later and in my head was “please just call me and speak with me” but alas that was not the case.  This can happen in your prayer life too, you can become so dependent on technology, and feel that is enough with God, that in a sense it become a meaningless way of having prayer.  Letting us down every time we feel that reading something more is really connecting with HIS WORD or posting on someone’s prayer chain is enough.  Is there really a need for different versions of the Bible?  Will one truly motivate you to read more of HIS WORD?  Yet more and more flood the market, more and more study guides show up, it is there for us to use and see – and sometimes it can feel like information overload.  But really nothing compares to spending time reading the WORD and Praying to God.  There are so many people out there that say you must do this to communicate with God, or you must read this to get a better understanding of what God is trying to say here, we have to watch out for false teachers.

1 John 4:1On Denying the Incarnation ] Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Our real answers await us when we ask God for wisdom just as Solomon did.

Love and Blessings the Gingham Chick 🙂
